Day-one availability on Switch 2 via Nintendo App. 60fps in portable mode, 4K docked. Japan open-world confirmed for the full Switch 2 version — this isn't a compromised port.

Mario Kart World

The pack-in title (with the bundle) introduces open-world sections between races, 24-player races online, and a roster that exceeds 50 characters. The biggest Mario Kart entry in the series.

Hades II — Nintendo Switch 2 Edition

Supergiant's sequel launches day-one on Switch 2 with exclusive features: haptic feedback integration and Joy-Con mouse support for navigating Arcana menus. If you want portable Hades II, this is the version.

GameChat

GameChat is the Switch 2's built-in voice and video chat system, accessed via the C button on the right Joy-Con. It allows:

  • Voice chat with friends during gameplay
  • Video chat using a supported camera (sold separately)
  • Screen sharing in portable and TV mode

For the first Nintendo hardware, this is genuinely functional communication without requiring a phone app.

Should You Upgrade from Switch (2017)?

Upgrade if:

  • You play 3D titles like Breath of the Wild, Odyssey, or third-party games — the resolution and framerate improvements are substantial
  • You want GameChat for online play without a phone
  • You play docked regularly — 4K output matters at large screen sizes

Hold if:

  • You primarily play 2D titles where the visual difference is minimal
  • You have a large Switch library that's mostly complete
  • Price is a consideration — $449 is a significant step up from the original's $299 launch

Verdict: For active Switch players who game frequently, the hardware improvements justify the upgrade within one to two years of ownership.
